Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what data the MyBikes iPhone and iPad app (“MyBikes”, “the app”) collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. MyBikes is made by Patrick Tremblay (“we”, “us”). If you have a question, write to patrick@bikerepairapp.com.
- We collect what the app needs to track your bikes, components and maintenance, plus your rides if you connect Strava.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- You can delete your account and its data at any time from the app's Settings.
1. Data we collect
Your account
When you first open the app, an anonymous account is created so your data can be saved. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider (with Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email). We also store when you last signed in, your device model, your app settings (such as kilometres or miles and the features you turned on) and your subscription status.
Your bikes and maintenance
Everything you enter in the app: bikes, components, spare parts, reminders, maintenance records, chain waxing data, notes, prices and invoices, and the photos you add. Photos are picked with the system photo picker, so the app only sees the photos you choose.
If you scan a receipt with the camera, the text is read on your device; only the fields you keep (such as amount, date, shop and items) are saved with your record.
Strava (only if you connect it)
When you connect a Strava account, Strava shares with us your profile (name, city, state, country, profile photo and unit preference), your bikes (gear), and your activities (name, description, distance, moving and elapsed time, start time, type and the bike used). We keep the access tokens Strava gives us so new rides can arrive automatically. The app writes to Strava only when you ask it to change the bike assigned to a ride.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token so we can send maintenance reminders.
Usage and diagnostics
- Product analytics (Amplitude and Google Analytics for Firebase). We record how the app is used, such as screens opened, features used, purchases and counts like the number of bikes, linked to a random account ID. We do not send names, notes, photos or ride titles. Amplitude is set not to collect your IP address, city or mobile carrier.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). When the app crashes we receive a technical report with the device model, system version and your account ID.
- App security (Firebase App Check). Confirms requests come from the genuine app.
MyBikes does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not show ads.
Email updates
If your account has an email address, we add it to our mailing list (EmailOctopus) with your name and basic facts about your use of the app (such as your plan, the number of bikes and reminders, and whether Strava is connected) so we can send you news and tips that fit how you use MyBikes. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
Support
When you contact support from the app, the email is pre-filled with your account ID, app version and plan so we can help you faster. You can remove them before sending.
2. How we use your data
- To run the app: save your bikes, compute component wear from your rides, and sync between your devices.
- To send the reminders you set up.
- To manage your subscription and the features it unlocks.
- To fix bugs and improve the app, using analytics and crash reports.
- To answer your support requests and send you product emails.
3. Who we share it with
We use these service providers, who process data for us under their own privacy terms:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics, App Check) | Account, data storage, photos, reminders, crash reports, analytics |
| Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple | Signing in, if you choose them |
| Strava | Your rides and bikes, if you connect Strava |
| Amplitude | Product analytics |
| EmailOctopus | Product emails |
| Apple App Store | Purchases and subscriptions (we never see your payment details) |
These providers may store data outside your country, including in the United States. We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may disclose data if the law requires it.
4. How long we keep it
- Your data is kept while your account exists.
- When you delete your account in the app, we delete your bikes, components, maintenance records, photos, rides, Strava connections and your account. We also disconnect MyBikes from your Strava account.
- When you disconnect a Strava account in the app, or revoke MyBikes' access on Strava, we delete the rides and bikes we received from that Strava account.
- Accounts with no bikes, no subscription and no activity for 90 days or more may be deleted. Before deletion we keep a backup copy for a limited time so the account can be restored if it was deleted by mistake.
- Analytics and crash data are kept according to Amplitude's and Firebase's retention settings and are not tied to your name.
5. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, open Settings → Delete my account.
- Disconnect Strava: in the app's Settings, or on Strava under Settings → My Apps.
- Notifications: turn them off in iOS Settings → MyBikes → Notifications.
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Export: the app can export a backup file of your data.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, or to object to some uses. Write to patrick@bikerepairapp.com and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
6. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored on Google Cloud. Access rules make sure each account can only read its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
7. Children
MyBikes is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will let you know in the app or by email.
